Semester
dates
ESALA follows the University semester dates - see
here.
Please note that the first year ESALA programme starts on Tuesday21st
September 2010, this is because the ECA campus is closed on the Monday
20th. You will be required to be on campus for all teaching and assessment.
Assessment and examination dates can be on the final day of semester
so bear that in mind if you are booking return travel tickets.

Example Timetable
Please note that the above timetable is from 2009/10; there may
be some changes in 2010/11.
SUPPORT
SERVICES
LINKS TO:
>
Disability Office
All ESALA students are are asked to contact the University
of Edinburgh Disability Office in the first instance. The University
and College Disability Office staff will work together in providing
any required advice and support during your studies (which will be
based across both the University and College campuses).
>
Accommodation Services
All ESALA students are covered by the University's Accommodation
Service guarantee (see webite for details).
Within ECA, the SRC (Student Representative Council) are hosting sessions in August and September to help you find private sector accommodation and put you in touch with other students looking for flats. Contact them on 0131 221 6020 or src@eca.ac.uk
>
Student Counselling.
There are services at both the University and the College, as they
are run independently we recommend you contact only one service in
the first instance. You are free to choose either service, although
we understand that the ECA service has a slightly shorter waiting
time.
>
Computing
It is entirely up to you to decide if you need to buy a computer.
The University and ECA provide extensive computing facilities for
students in halls, the School, libraries etc., many of which are available
24 hours a day and 7 days a week. There is no pressure or obligation
to provide your own equipment. However many students complement the
public facilities with their own so they can use a
computer in their own room (or with a portable computer, in libraries
and other areas around campus). As many students already have laptops
it is worth saying that we can work with both Macs and PCS.
If you are planning to
buy a computer there is some useful guidance here: www.ucs.ed.ac.uk/ucsinfo/buyingcomputer/
