Academic Programmes
Our degree programmes support various passions, vocations and careers relating to the disciplines of architecture and landscape architecture.
Architecture and landscape architecture in Edinburgh is delivered by ESALA, the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. ESALA is joint school of the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh College of Art and is part of a wider academic federation between the two institutions. ESALA offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in architecture, landscape architecture and associated disciplines including: BA/MA(Hons) Architecture [Part 1 of an architectural education], Master of Architecture [part 2 of an architectural education] and Landscape Architecture BA (Hons) and MSc Integrated Masters.

The scope of architectural education is broad, and it can lead to other careers in the built environment and the creative arts. Career options are supported by the specialised programmes we offer: undergraduate MA programmes in Architectural History and Studies; joint degrees in Archaeology, Social History and Structural Engineering (detailed in the Undergraduate link); one-year postgraduate MSc programmes in Design & Digital Media, Architectural and Urban Design, Sound Design, and The City, distance learning MSc programmes in Project and Facilities Management, MSc by Research in Digital Media and Culture, and Architectural Design Practices; and MPhil and PhD research programmes by text and/or design project.
