Test of English at Matriculation (TEAM)
All successful applicants who submitted an English test score below 7.0 IELTS (below 100 iBT-TOEFL, below 600 TOEFL, or below 250 CBT-TOEFL) are required to take a Test of English at Matriculation (TEAM) to determine whether they qualify for English Language Testing and Tuition (ELTT).
TEAM tests listening comprehension and knowlege of grammar and vocabulary. It takes around 40 minutes. Please note that TEAM is not used to decide whether or not to accept a student at the University. That decision is based on the score given on the IELTS or TOEFL certificate submitted at the time of application. TEAM diagnoses whether a student may benefit from ELTT English courses or materials, which are offered free of charge to non-native speakers on postgraduate programmes at The University of Edinburgh. English Language Courses for International Applicants and Students
The University runs English classes designed for international students applying for a place. However, please note that international students must meet the English language test standards before entry, and therefore no guarantees can be made by the University that attendance at these pre-sessional English courses will automatically result in an unconditional offer. For further information about pre-sessional English courses, please click here.
The University also runs English classes designed for international students who have been admitted and want to develop their English language skills. For further information about in-session English courses, please click here.
