Women in Property Award for Lewis

An Edinburgh University student has been named as the leading property student of the year by industry organisation, the Association of Women in Property. Rosie Lewis, studying Architectural Design triumphed over eight other Central Scotland contenders at the regional stage of the Awards.

Rosie Lewis will now represent the Central Scotland branch when she goes through to the national ‘Best of the Best’ final in September, at Claridge’s.

Commenting on her achievement, Rosie said: “I was delighted to be nominated by my University for the award and really appreciate the opportunity to take part in the awards process. The interview itself was a great learning experience and I am sure it will have a positive impact on my future career. The awards ceremony was a very exciting evening and I was over the moon to be announced as regional winner amongst such a great group of students. I am very much looking forward to the national judging day later in the year.”

Elaine Troup, Chairman of the Central Scotland Branch, said:

“Rosie has done really well to get to this stage. These Awards seek out the best students in the eyes of our local Universities and then put them in front of a judging panel made up of some of the region’s leading industry figures: that’s no mean feat. She is clearly very talented and a great role model for young women considering a career in property and construction.”

The judging panel included Stewart Davidson of Will Rudd Davidson, Nicola Gourlay of JM Architects, Stephen Tucker of Turley Associates and Anne MacKay Reid a past Branch Chairman. Their comments were noted as follows:

‘Rosie is a great ambassador’
‘Here is someone with an idea, a passion and ability’

The regional award ceremony held on the 3rd June was kindly sponsored by Turley Associates who were delighted to offer their continued support to the regional Student Awards programme.
The Association of Women in Property is committed to redressing the balance of female under-representation in the property and construction industry by encouraging and supporting women throughout their careers and nurturing newcomers. The National Student Awards are this year sponsored by Byrne Group, Homes and Communities Agency, Argent and MCD Developments. They are part of a programme which also includes peer mentoring, CPD and training seminars and regular networking opportunities.
