Profile

Born in Madrid (Spain) in 1978, Ivan Marquez studied Architecture at the ETSAM in Madrid from 1996-2004, when he graduated.

In 2005 he registered as an Architect in the COAM in Spain and moved to Scotland to work for Sutherland Hussey Architects.
He has contributed as a team member to the design and development stages of the majority of Sutherland Hussey’s projects in the practice since 2005 to date, with particular importance the mixed use development in Sligo (in collaboration with Murray OLaoire Architects), the British Embassy in Sarajevo (in collaboration with Bain Bevington Architects) and the competition winning scheme for the new city Museum in Chengdu (in collaboration with Pansolution International Design).

In 2007 Ivan became an Associate in Sutherland Hussey Architects and registered as an ARB Architect in the UK . Since then, Ivan has been Project Architect of a series of projects in the office, in particular the three star hotel within the Haymarket masterplan in Edinburgh

In 2008, Ivan started to collaborate with the Edinburgh College of Art and the Strathclyde University as a visiting critic in Architectural Design reviews and tutorials.
Since 2009, Ivan has been a Design Tutor at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) in 1st Year, as well as at the Strathclyde University in 4th Year.
