Oliver established the practice in 1997 having worked previously at Richard Murphy Architects (Edinburgh), MacCormac Jamieson Pritchard (London) and Max Rieder Architektur (Vienna).
Oliver combines practice with teaching Architecture at the University of Edinburgh and Urban Design at the School of Planning, Heriot Watt University. Oliver has considerable experience designing in the care and health, public building and residential sectors, developing projects which have garnered a number of awards for the practice, including an RIBA Regional Award in 2008.
He also founded Schop in 2008. This is an initiative dedicated to bringing the work of artists engaged in the built environment to a wider audience and providing structured learning programmes on architecture including evening courses available to everyone. Future plans for Schop include a postgraduate summer course for international students which will address questions that affect Edinburgh’s changing built environment.
