Fabric Formed Concrete
During the Summer 2007 Architecture students from across the UK congregated in the workshops in the Department of Architecture for a three-day event to explore casting, moulding and forming with this tremendously versatile material. The programme involved lectures and workshops with Allan Haines of the Concrete Centre, Nicky Pipe of Brighton University, Ian McArdle of Alford, Hall Monaghan and Morris and Remo Pedreschi of the University of Edinburgh. In addition to students from Manchester, Strathclyde, Robert Gordon and Coventry Universities and Edinburgh College of Art amongst others, some participants came directly from architectural practice. The event was organised by Archaos and the University with funding from the Concrete Centre, Archaos and the CABE.
