SCALE
SCALE was a one-day symposium initiated by Dr Mark Dorrian of the
Department of Architecture. Structured as a series of short
presentations the symposium offered an opportunity for researchers
within ACE, the School of Arts, Culture and the Environment, to
address the theme of Scale through an aspect of their own ongoing
research.
Contributing speakers chose to discuss questions of scale in
relation to visuality and aesthetics, epistemology, power and
subjectivity; in terms of representational modes and in connection
with the specific practices of video art and musical composition and
performance.
Professor Ben Nicholson (Art Institute of Chicago and Simpson
Professor 2006/7 in Architecture at UoE) and Professor Andrew
Benjamin (UTS, Sydney, and Visiting Professor in Architecture at
UoE) contributed to the symposium as part of a programme of
engagements with teaching and research practices within the
Department of Architecture.
